The best part about my job
is what each and every client is able to teach me about so many things
in life, ranging from physical therapy care to self-care.
My favorite thing to do outside of work is exercise in many
different ways to include weight training, basketball, golf, and other team
sports.
I recharge by spending time with friends and
family, and when I need some time to myself, a good book or magazine often comes
in handy.
My favorite sport to watch is college basketball.
My favorite sport to play is basketball.
My favorite sports hero is Walter Payton, the greatest running
back ever for the Chicago Bears.
My role models are my father, my high school football and track
coach, and my grandfather.
My favorite form of exercise is functional weight training
and jogging.
My favorite group fitness class is the one that can get me
to go to it and stick with it.
My drink of choice is strawberry/banana smoothie or a marshmallow
malt.
Early bird and night owl? Combination.
I decided to help move athletes to the next level because
I feel this population has been under-served for injury prevention, treatment,
and more importantly proper functional training. My strong love of sports and
exercise and my past experience as an athlete also help drive my desire to treat
athletes and to help with performance enhancement.
A common mistake athletes make on the road to recovery is that
they return to sport or activity too soon, often based off of poor advise from
others or because they are not properly educated.
Before I begin therapy it’s important to gain trust from the
client and make them feel comfortable and positive about the experience they
are about to have.
When I first meet an injured athlete, I look at that person as a whole
and really approach the evaluation from a global perspective to include physical
and psychosocial issues related to their sport or situation.
The best way I can help an athlete recover is to be honest and to let them know that I truly love what I do. A positive attitude mixed with realistic expectations goes a long way to recovery and positive results.
I most enjoy helping athletes meet their goals. My job is to
set realistic goals related to their sport and day-to-day function. It gives
me great pleasure to help this process and see growth. I enjoy watching athletes
perform at high levels, where they tax the system and maximize physical potential.
Football or golf? Golf.
Knee or shoulder? Knee for sure! But I am a machine with the
shoulder too.
