The best part about my job
is helping people take positive steps in their lives. This could mean
helping someone achieve a goal of running a race or making it possible to do
everyday activities without pain.
My favorite thing to do outside
of work is hang with my family and go to Hackley Island.
I recharge by hanging
out with my niece and nephew, Morgan Lee and Jacob.
My favorite sport to watch
is football.
My favorite sport to play
is golf.
My favorite sports hero is
Walter Payton, “Sweetness.”
My role models are
my dad and my mom, the two best people I know.
My favorite form of exercise
is weightlifting.
My favorite group fitness
class is yoga.
Early bird or night owl? Definitely an early bird.
I decided to help athletes
move to the next level because I myself have been an athlete my whole
life. I have found that with the proper supervision and guidance you can reach
a whole different level of skill and performance.
One training/conditioning mistake a lot of athletes make is
overtraining. Athletes are consumed by enhancing their performance. Sometimes
this desire clouds their vision of what is healthy. Strength and conditioning
coaches are very knowledgeable and aware of the signs and symptoms overtraining.
With this expertise on your side you can avoid such problems in your training.
Before I begin training an athlete, it’s important to evaluate
their fitness level.
I most enjoy working with athletes that are interested in gaining
power and strength.
The athletes I’ve been most pleasured to work with are those
in special populations. During college I had the privilege of taking a adaptive
physical education class. These students had conditions ranging from autism
to spinal disorders. This class was the most rewarding class that I have taken
to this day.
I most enjoy watching athletes start to believe in the potential
that as a coach you know they possess.
My least favorite training exercise is weighted lunges.
Strength or cardio? Being a power lifter in the past I have
to go with strength. Being a personal trainer now, I see the importance of using
both strength training and cardiovascular training to reach your full potential.
